Scrumble crochet is a free form crochet art where you build up in layers and add embelishments to each piece. Once you have learnt this technique you can make lots of lovely items including bags, cushions scarves and much more just let your imagination run wild! An intro to Carding and Spinning from Raw fleece

An introduction to carding and spinning from raw fleece. Have you ever thought you might like to learn to spin you own yarns? This is your chance to try before you buy. Learn to prepare and spin your own yarns from raw fleece using traditional methods of carding and hand spinning on an Ashford traditional wheel. In this class you will learn to card (comb) the raw fleece in preparation for spinning the fleece and then how to spin and ply the fleece.

Learn to weave on peg looms

This is a fun class learning to weave on peg looms which are a great introduction to the art of weaving and an affordable and accessible way to create beautiful cushions and rugs for your home or accessories such as handbags for yourself. Wonky-Eyed Birds

Take a break from the busy show to spend an hour making your own little characterful bird at this creative and mindful hand-sewing workshop. We’ll use beautiful woollen fabric and British wool stuffing and then bring the birds to life with vintage buttons, handspun yarns, silk threads and beads. All materials are provided for the workshop. You will need confidence in some very basic sewing techniques to make your bird but it’s nothing at all complicated!
Each workshop is limited to 8 people so there is plenty of time for individual attention but still enough new people to chat and share ideas with. Willow Lantern Making

Create Your Own Lampshade Design

Join a table of creativity and have fun with a vast range of paper which you can collage into a design. Your design will then be printed on the spot and turned into a beautiful paper lampshade you can take home. It will cost to attend £20 each and that includes the beautiful lampshade you will take home (you can pay on the day in cash or by card and you can also pay in advance by bank transfer). There is room for up to 10 people a time at this workshop, workshops last around 1 hour (longer if needed).

Batik Taster Workshop

Learn the art of batik: applying wax onto fabric as a resist before painting on fabric dyes. There will be time to apply wax using tjantings (Indonesian wax pens) and brushes and painting on dyes twice to build up colour and texture.
You will produce a final design (approx 25cm x 25cm) to take away with instructions on how to finish at home. 4 designs to choose from or create your own. Maximum 6 people, each design should take approximately 90 mins to finish. Please book on the day.
Silk Paper Making

Discover fusing glass and explore how to use it to make two coasters of your own design. Why not join us for this fun filled workshop.
Hand felted soaps are naturally exfoliating, so you can jump in the shower just as it is, it is also naturally anti-bacterial, it won’t leave any residue on your sink, the soap will last longer and the felt will continue to shrink down with the soap as it is used, continuing to look attractive and small lovely.
You will be using merino wool and silk and be shown how to lay down the fibres around your soap, before felting it. The workshop will take 45 mins – an hour.

Learn how to combine needle felting with mixed media to create this scene. Joan will teach technique and take you through each stage to create this collage. All materials and use of tools are included.

Peg Loom Rug Weaving

Whether starting the day or finishing it, come and experience this fun and relaxing workshop, making your own small rug or seat cushion using beautiful wool selvedge yarn. Using a pre-warped wooden peg loom, you can choose from a range of chunky wool selvedge yarn or cotton fabric yarn to weave a useful little rug for your home, and learn lots about weaving along the way!
I teach weaving using simple, inexpensive tools so it’s easy to learn and accessible to everyone. No previous experience necessary - I supply all the materials and the techniques, you just bring your creativity and a willingness to experiment and play!
Each workshop is limited to 6 people so there is plenty of time for individual attention but still enough new people to chat and share ideas with.

Needle Felt Your Own Pet Portrait

Experience necessary. Bring your own photo and learn the techniques to create your own 2D/3D head portrait. Joan will teach and guide you through how to create your own personal pet in wool.
All materials and use of tools is included. This workshop is scheduled for an hour, but is likely to run over if you wish to complete it at the show, but you will know all the methods and be given sufficient materials to continue at home should you need to go after the hour.

Join Fi, from FELTbyFI, for an inspiring and creative 'make & take'. Use merino wool and other natural fibres to make bunting. Choose from either AUTUMN or CHRISTMAS themed colours and shapes (template to take away)
