No previous crochet experience is required. The session starts with the basics and is designed specifically for people picking up a crochet hook for the first time.

With no more than six participants, Steph can offer plenty of individual guidance and help you work at a pace that feels comfortable.

Crochet can be relaxing, creative and hugely satisfying. This taster session gives you the foundations to keep practising and developing your skills after the workshop.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Take your first steps into crochet
A relaxed and supportive introduction for anyone who has always wanted to learn crochet but wasn't sure where to start.
Steph will guide you through the basics of starting a simple piece of linear crochet and introduce you to up to two crochet stitches, depending on your individual pace of learning.
With a maximum of only six people in each session, there is plenty of opportunity to ask questions, receive individual guidance and practise at your own pace.
The aim is not to rush, but to help you understand the basic movements, gain confidence with the hook and leave feeling ready to continue practising at home.
SUPPORTING THE RENDEZVOUS
Steph is fundraising for The Rendezvous, a local charity supporting young people across South Somerset and North Dorset as they make the transition into adulthood.
The charity provides support including English and Maths tuition, CV writing, applications for college and employment, and mental health support. Steph also volunteers with The Rendezvous as an English and Maths tutor.

MEET YOUR TUTOR
Steph · Crafting by Steph
A lifelong crafter with more than 60 years of crochet experience.
Steph has been an avid crafter for most of her life and is still discovering and learning new creative skills. Through Crafting by Steph, she now shares her knowledge and experience with others through friendly, accessible workshops.
Alongside crochet, Steph creates jewellery using her own unique abstract photography and upcycles home décor, which she sells at craft fairs and through the Crafting by Steph website.
Her workshops are designed to encourage people to have a go, enjoy the process and discover the satisfaction that comes from making something yourself.
