Stitch Your First Picture
Start simply and see what you can create
You don't need to know your back stitch from your running stitch before you arrive. This workshop has been designed to give beginners an enjoyable first experience of hand embroidery.
You'll choose from four different patterns and learn a selection of simple stitches that can be used to bring your picture to life.
- Choose a design that appeals to you
- Learn simple embroidery stitches step by step
- Discover how stitch, colour and texture can change a design
- Work in a small group with support from the Embroiderers' Guild
- Take away your own delightful embroidered picture
The bird and fish designs shown are examples from the beginner workshop collection, with four different patterns available to choose from.
Embroidery starts with a single stitch
There is something particularly satisfying about watching a picture gradually appear simply through needle, thread and a handful of stitches.
This workshop gives you the chance to try embroidery in a friendly setting without needing any previous experience or committing to a large project.
Because only six people can take part at a time, the session remains small and approachable.
You may arrive having never embroidered before and leave having created a piece that is unmistakably your own.
