Avalon Quilters: Return & Reveal
We’re delighted to welcome back the Avalon Quilters to this year’s show after a few years away! This vibrant and friendly group will once again be showcasing their stunning collection of quilts in the Quilt Hall, where visitors can admire their beautiful work, meet the makers, and share in their passion for quilting.
Formed in 2015 by twelve members of a U3A quilting group who wanted to meet on Saturdays to include those still working, Avalon Quilters has grown into a thriving community of around forty members — their current capacity. The group meets on the first Saturday of each month at Meadway Hall in Compton Dundon, offering a welcoming space for quilters of all ages and abilities to learn, create, and connect.
Their programme is wonderfully varied, featuring member-led sessions and workshops with guest tutors, ensuring there’s always something new to discover. Many of their members boast an impressive range of skills, from beginners to experienced quilters, and the group’s creative energy continues to shine through every project they produce.
In addition to their quilting, Avalon Quilters proudly support charitable causes — this year raising funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust, with a festive Christmas quilt being raffled as a special prize.
Be sure to stop by their display at the show — it’s a feast of colour, craftsmanship, and community spirit that truly captures the heart of quilting.
