Stitch by Stitch with Annabel Wilson

The Magic of Shibori

We’re pleased to be welcoming Annabel, a designer from Sherborne, Dorset, whose work is rooted in the traditional Japanese technique of shibori stitch-resist.

With almost two decades of experience, Annabel has developed a distinctive approach to this beautiful form of textile design, using carefully placed stitches, gathering and dye to create striking patterns and textures in cloth.

Visitors will be able to meet Annabel at her stand throughout the show, see examples of her work up close and discover more about the techniques behind each piece. Her work has a strong focus on slow stitching, enjoying the process, working thoughtfully and seeing how simple materials can be transformed through stitch and colour.

Annabel is passionate about making shibori accessible and has created a range of step-by-step guides, workshops, blog posts and video tutorials to help both beginners and more experienced stitchers develop their skills.

At her stand you can:

  • See and handle finished shibori pieces

  • Discover different colour and pattern possibilities

  • Ask questions about the techniques and process

  • Pick up ideas and inspiration for your own projects

Annabel will also be running daily workshops during the show, giving visitors the opportunity to try shibori for themselves and learn directly from her.

Whether you’re completely new to the technique or already have some experience, the workshops offer a relaxed, practical introduction with plenty of expert guidance.

🎟️ Workshop places are limited, so early booking is recommended!
