Bringing the Wild to Life with Andrea Oakwood

We’re pleased to be welcoming Andrea Oakwood, a botanical artist and ecologist based in Castle Cary, whose work is inspired by a genuine connection to the natural world.

With an MSc in Conservation Biology from UCL, Andrea combines artistic skill with a strong scientific understanding of plants, habitats and biodiversity. Working from her home studio, she creates detailed, nature-inspired pieces that encourage people to look more closely at the beauty and complexity of the landscapes around them.

Her approach is summed up in her ethos, “Botanical Artist — Reverence for the Wild, Art for the Heart,” with each piece reflecting both careful observation and a deep respect for the environment.

Alongside her artwork, Andrea also works as a garden consultant and tutor in Somerset, bringing together creativity, ecology and practical knowledge in a way that makes her work both beautiful and meaningful.
