Hand-Painted Textiles with a Twist

We’re delighted to welcome Anne Hellyer, a Hampshire-based textile artist whose work brings together hand-painted fabrics, free-machine embroidery and sculptural form.

Anne’s love of textiles began at a young age, inspired by her grandmother’s sewing machine, and later developed through the Embroiderers’ Guild and a City & Guilds qualification in Creative Embroidery. Today, her work combines colour, stitch and surface design to create distinctive three-dimensional textile pieces.

Working from her Hampshire studio, Anne paints and prints many of her own fabrics before building them into richly layered embroidered artworks. Each piece is individually designed and made, giving it its own character, texture and movement.

Her work is also wonderfully versatile, with pieces that can be displayed on a shelf, mounted on a wall or gently reshaped to create a different look.
