Spinning wheel and Drop spindling

With Nell Brown and Jean Fenton

Running time: throughout the three days

Where: Stand 82

Working from her home studio in Newton Abbot, Nell creates beautiful, one-of-a-kind yarns using local Devon fleeces, carefully washed and carded ready for spinning. Visit the stand to watch a spinning wheel demonstration and see how raw fibre is transformed into usable yarn, with the option to blend in fibres such as silk or alpaca to create completely unique textures and colour effects.

You’ll also be able to browse a range of knitting kits made with these hand-spun yarns, including projects for beanies, berets, fingerless gloves and headbands, perfect if you love making something special with natural fibres.

When a break is needed, Jean Fenton (from South Devon Stitchers) will be joining to demonstrate drop spindling, giving visitors a chance to see a second traditional spinning method and ask questions about both techniques.
