Experience the Craft of Blacksmithing at Westpoint Forge

Westpoint Forge is proud to be the home of the Blacksmiths and Metalworkers Association of the South West (BMASW). As the heart of blacksmithing in the region, we organize and host the prestigious metalworking competitions at the Devon County Show, part of a national circuit. These competitions, featuring both static and live entries, culminate in the announcement of the National Champion and Reserve Champion Blacksmith each October.

At Westpoint, we don’t just celebrate the art of metalworking—we teach it. Our blacksmithing taster courses offer a hands-on introduction to forging and forming techniques such as tapering, scrolling, punching, twisting, and more. These workshops are perfect for anyone eager to try their hand at this ancient craft. Visit our stand at the show to learn more and sign up!

For those who want to take their passion further, BMASW members meet at Westpoint every second Saturday of the month. Members can hire a hearth to work on their own projects, share ideas, and enjoy the camaraderie of tea, biscuits, and a shared love of metalwork.

BMASW is growing steadily, with exciting plans to enhance our facilities at Westpoint. We are currently expanding our capabilities and researching new welding equipment to support a broader range of metalworking techniques.

Whether you’re an experienced blacksmith, a curious beginner, or simply an admirer of the craft, Westpoint Forge is the perfect place to connect, learn, and be inspired by the artistry of metalworking.
